Wild Thing

I've got a few older outfits from last week I'll be posting over the next few days til I get caught up. I wore this a couple Sundays ago to run errands. I know I didn't feel like "dressing up" that particular day, but I'm actually very pleased with this outfit.

The shoes I'm wearing are my favorite pair of shoes at the moment. They're ridiculously comfortable, I think they're adorable, and I got them for a great price. I call them my marshmallow shoes. I am a nerd.

Orlando Vacation Part 3

On our 3rd day in Orlando we were quite busy. We went to the Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach, and saw Cirque du Soleil La Nouba. We didn't take very many pictures, as we were both exhausted by this point. In fact, even though we were here for 2 more days afterwards there aren't anymore blogworthy pictures so this will be my last vacation post. Day 4 was Thanksgiving, and day 5 we spent with Peter's sister and brother in law going on a boat tour, seeing a movie, and playing games.

I love Florida, and can definitely see myself going back for another visit. I had hoped to explore a bit more local culture and less tourist attractions, but Peter's sister insisted that we get the Orlando Experience. I am very grateful for the generosity she showered us with, I still have a hard time believing we actually got to do all these amazing things!

Orlando Vacation Part 2

So on day 2 in Orlando we went to Universal Studios. I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself... I hate crowds, and I thought (and still think) it's waaaay overpriced. But I actually had a good time. The highlight of the day was the Simpsons ride. If we ever make it back to Florida, I totally want to check out the Harry Potter theme park. It sounds pretty awesome.

I also randomly got a haircut on this day... I went to an awesome salon called Matthew Michael's Salon and Spa that I wish so badly was local. Rather than telling me I was styling it wrong, Ryan acknowledged my concerns and agreed that my bangs were cut oddly heavy on the sides! My normal hairstylist insisted that I was doing it wrong, which was kind of infuriating. Ryan even sent me a thank you card, amazing!
Fresh haircut! It looked great.

Bart Simpson!! The only plushie type character we saw all day.

Pre-Bart. And the only decent picture where you can see my shoes.

Of course I wanted to wear something casual and low maintenance given that I would be walking around all day, and had no idea what kind of rides to expect. I love these jeans, and the funny thing is they were capri pant on the model. I bought them because I wanted skinny jeans to wear with my boots and they were $13 and in my size, but they are the perfect length to wear with flats! I'm short and have ridiculously short legs, so I really got lucky.

Orlando Vacation Part 1

So, as I mentioned earlier last week we went to Florida to visit Peter's sister for Thanksgiving. Our first day there we woke up pretty late and didn't really get going until the afternoon so we decided to go to Gatorland. It's pretty much a small zoo with lots and lots of gators. We walked around for a bit, watched the gators sleep, fed some, and got attacked by birds. They hang around and steal food. One of them actually bit Peter's finger. It was fun and weird, an interesting way to spend an afternoon. (Click pics to make them bigger.)
Outside the park.

Me and a gator.

A little overexcited about a weird souvenir.

The birds are closing in! Also, some weird dude who was telling us which gators we should try and feed.

Florida was a lot more warm and humid than I expected. I didn't pack very well. I loved it there and hope to go back sometime.

Quick Update

Last week I went out of town on vacation/ to visit in-laws for Thanksgiving. I got back yesterday, and have yet to upload my pictures... or do much of anything really! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I've got pictures/vacation stories to come. Anyway, I've taken some melatonin and it's hitting me hard so I'll keep this short.

Black and Tan

So yesterday I was doing my makeup and my Mom called. I sat down at my computer and browsed some blogs while chatting, and saw this post from Curvy Girl Chic. I had been totally stumped as for what to wear, and loved her outfit so much that I totally copied it. I feel like a creeper, but at the same time the reason I look at all these fashion blogs for inspiration. It's something I'll definitely be wearing again, and soon.

I've never been to most fashionable person, but the one rule I followed is never mixing black and brown and trying to avoid mixing warm and cool. I've been slowly coming around, so this outfit was a huge leap for me. Gotta say, Peter loved this outfit and dubbed it the Black and Tan.

The last one is showing of a little bit of the amazingly gorgeous fall color. I might not be a fan of my current apartment complex but I am *SO GLAD* I won't have to rake any leaves this year.

OOTD: My Birthday

Yesterday was my 27th birthday. I had a great day. Peter made me Eggs Benedict for breakfast, and Smores Cupcakes (and a little cake) for my birthday cake. It's a sort of tradition for me to get sushi on my birthday, so we went out for a sushi dinner. I got lots of nice presents, my parents called and sang happy birthday, and I got to talk to my little brother for almost an hour (a rare treat!).

I wore my $7 Target dress. This outfit looked a lot better than it felt. I need to find something to wear under it, as it kept slipping down just enough to show my bra. I also had a major wardrobe malfunction in Whole Foods... my tights had been rolling down all night. They're the same size as my other Hue tights, but fit a bit smaller. By the time we made it to Whole Foods towards the end of the evening, I'd had to reposition them several times. So, I was walking through produce headed towards the alcohol section and the rolled down so far that the top of the tights was *under* my bum! Lesson learned... if my tights seem slightly small while I'm getting dressed, I need to change.

Breaking It Up

I'm done with my hairstylist. I've been seeing her for 2 years, so it feels a bit like a break-up. I get my hair cut every 2 months like clockwork with bang trims in between.  I haven't been happy with a haircut since I started growing it out August 2009. She kept saying it was the awkward growing out stages, but it's been over a year and I think my hair looks worse than ever. Frumptastic, like I'm hiding in my hair. Mostly it's my bangs. I hate them. So much, that last night I pushed them to the side and will be wearing them that way until I meet someone new.

So, on to the clothes. I wore this to go out to dinner with my fiance (part of my "birthday weekend" as he keeps calling it) and hunt for a Tucker of Target dress that I'm hoping to find. I tried on a couple pieces a couple weeks ago when I was in Maryland, and now I *need* the navy blue dress. Me finding anything that buttons down and fits, let alone looks good, is always amazing. No luck last night, but I did find a really cool green plaid dress for $7.

The last one is obviously after my hair freak out, with my new side bangs. Looks so much better.

OOTD: Running Errands

I'm an unemployed student taking online classes. Meaning, I spend most days in my pajamas. As I type this I'm wearing black lounge pants, a cobalt blue scoop neck t-shirt, and a charcoal grey sweater that is not fit to be worn out of the house. At least my nails look fabulous!

So, running errands is an excuse to dress up. I wore this outfit earlier this week to pick up an order from Lane Bryant and get some groceries from Trader Joe's.

I love this from the hem of my dress up. I was disappointed in these tights and will probably wear brown tights next time. Also, brown boots would be better. Mine are currently at the cobbler getting the calves stretched, so hopefully that will be remedied soon.

It get dark around 5 or 5:30 and my fiance normally isn't home til 6. Unless taken on the weekend most pictures will be taken inside in my poorly lit apartment. :(

Starting Over

I was struck with inspiration for what I should have named my blog last night and decided to start over. I'm relatively new, and have zero followers, so why not?

I love Bette Midler, everyone calls me Em... makes a lot more sense and is more comfortable than a random inside joke.

I'll redo my most recent outfit of the day post. The other ones are so old and I'm in such a different place now that they feel irrelevant.

If you've somehow stumbled across my blog, I hope you stick around!
